The Walk of Fame Almere - a route of 51 tiles in the centre of Almere - tells the story of Almere. Each tile highlights per year a meaningful event, development or an important person. More background information on the history of this New Town can be viewed via the QR code on the tile. Want to walk the route? View the online route, download the map with all the tiles on it or download the brochure with all the information.

Each year, visitors and residents can contribute topics and vote on the highlights of Almere's history from the previous year. The Walk of Fame Almere is a gift from Rabobank Almere to the municipality of Almere to mark its 35th anniversary. Every year until 2043, Rabobank Almere will donate a new tile to the municipality and its residents.

The route

The route of the Walk of Fame, a work of art that tells the history of Almere, lies like a ribbon through the centre of Almere. The route starts at the 1974 tile, the birth of the name Almere-Stad, on the Stationsplein. For every year of the city's existence, a tile will be added with a person, marker or milestone on it about the year before. The tiles will be laid until 2043.
