Beaver Trail cycle route
The Beaver Trail cycle route is a 42-kilometre route, leading through agricultural polder land, but also through a landscape of nature and green urban area. Bring plenty of food and drink and don't forget your binoculars and tyre repair kit! Don't hesitate to have a picnic and enjoy your rest in between.
Meet the beaver, Europe's largest rodent, along the route. As a nocturnal animal, you are unlikely to encounter it during the day, but at dusk the chances are greater. Note the many tracks the beaver leaves behind, such as gnawed-off tree trunks.
Start your adventure at the car park at Buitencentrum Almeerderhout on Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan. From there, drive to the Oostvaardersplassen, part of National Park Nieuw Land, and return to the Buitencentrum Buitencentrum Almeerderhout for the full experience.
