Piet van Eeghen
Piet van Eeghen won the audience award at the Leids Cabaret Festival 2022 and then made "a strong first cabaret performance" with 'De Verlichting Nabij' according to NRC. The song 'Levenslied' was nominated for the Annie M.G. Schmidt Prize 2024.
Back then he scrutinised his own mind in a funny and original way, in successor 'De Lieve Vrede' Piet breaks his head about everything that happens between him and his fellow man. Craving for others, but wanting to stick them behind the wallpaper when they are there. Making a fist with buckling knees and being a teacher for ten years in the meantime. Shuffling uncomfortably at physical contact, but bursting into tears at the first hug. A barrel of contradictions that Pete must discuss and sing about.

About his first programme De Verlichting Nabijij wrote:
NRC****: 'Strong first cabaret performance...an interesting cabaret performer and stage personality...Van Eeghen shows well that cabaret is more than talking and joking. By the way, he is funny too...Annie MG. Schmidt Prize worthy.'
de Volkskrant***: 'In his first show, Piet van Eeghen manages to entertain the audience until the end with clever and comical songs.'
Theatererkrant.nl: 'Van Eeghen repeatedly demonstrates his own dryly comic, original angle. He is engaging, funny and cuddly...Once a maths teacher...how nice for us that he chose to follow his heart, jump into the deep end and now be a comedian.'
