After the successful production Anima Obscura, Nanine Linning and her international artistic team are once again creating an overwhelming total experience.

La Mer is a visually rich and emotionally charged multimedia performance about the beauty and vulnerability of our oceans. This new production is based on Claude Debussy's grand and iconic La Mer (1905). With her 25 dancers, Linning juxtaposes the naive-romantic imagination of the sea from Debussy's time with the harsh reality of today, shaped by rising sea levels and pollution. La Mer invites reflection on our own actions. The result is an immersive hybrid of dance, music, couture and video art that touches both physically and intellectually.

Yannis Kyriakides' cinematographic music offers a contemporary counterpart to Debussy's symphony. His sound compositions are written for phenomenal soprano Barbara Hannigan. Media artist Heleen Blanken's digital scenography and more than eighty durable costumes by Japanese haute-couture designer Yuima Nakazato transform the stage into a mysterious, fluid world where beauty and menace go hand in hand
