The Pampushout was planted in 1978. Trees from the pioneer era are still growing taller and thicker. And new seedlings also shoot out of the ground. This time planted not by humans, but by nature. Discover these natural forest dynamics as the drumming of the woodpecker sounds between the tree crowns. The Pampushwood trail also takes you past small-scale fields and reed banks with scratching reed birds.
In this plot of beeches, the trees are planted close together. Each tree competes for a spot, which is why some are thicker than others. When you look between the smooth trunks, it creates an exciting interplay of lines. Dead trees are allowed to remain; the great spotted woodpecker carves holes in rotting wood with its beak. The remaining cavities are used by tits and other hole-breeders.
