Giant/LIV Track Kemphaan

The Kemphaan mountain bike trail has been created on the Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan, just south-east of Almere. This area is characterised by a varied and artificially planted forest that was brought under cultivation by Staatsbosbeheer after the Flevopolder was drained.

The Kemphaan mountain bike route is one of the few fully paved routes in the Netherlands. Paving was deliberately chosen during construction because the soft clay soil is unstable, making the routes in the polder difficult to ride in autumn and winter. By using a concrete granulate pavement along the entire length of the trails, this route is perfectly rideable even in less good weather.

The route is mostly flat, but several bowl curves, jumps, a short pumptrack and a few artificial hills and obstacles have been added to the route. The route has roughly 5 kilometres of pure singletrack, interspersed with two strips of about 500 metres of paved road.

Unique to this route is that there is an official trail centre located right on the route that serves as a starting point, which also sells vignettes, has catering facilities, a bike wash down area, small repair equipment with bike pump and changing facilities and toilets available. The trail centre is located at Outdoorpark SEC Almere, Verlaatweg 2, 1358 AJ, Almere.

Furthermore, connecting routes have been signposted from the main route to the mountain bike route Kotterbos in Almere-Buiten, the MTB Skills Park (MTB practice park on the north side of the city at the Fanny Blankers Koen sports park) and the mountain bike route Beginbos.
