Walk of Fame Almere tile 2024 for Fietsmaatjes Almere

The 2024 tile of the Walk of Fame Almere has been unveiled. The 51st tile of the tile route in Almere Centrum features Stichting Fietsmaatjes Almere. Fietsmaatjes Almere facilitates bike rides for people who can no longer cycle by themselves due to physical or mental disabilities. In 2024 the foundation reached a total number of cycled kilometres of 40,075. That is the same distance as the circumference of the earth.

The foundation organises bike rides where volunteers, also known as 'Fietsmaatjes', take people who cannot cycle by themselves on a special duo-bike. This allows them to enjoy the outdoors, nature and the city, as well as the social interaction that comes with cycling.

With no fewer than 791 out of a total of 1549 votes, Stichting Fietsmaatjes Almere was chosen by Almere residents as the winner of the Walk of Fame Almere tile for the year 2024. In second place is Almere Jungle. The animal park on stadslandgoed De Kemphaan opened its brand-new animal infirmary in 2024, making the park even more accessible. Building de Voetnoot came third. The cultural building was listed in 2024

Gift from Rabobank

The Walk of Fame is a gift from Rabobank Almere to the municipality and residents of Almere to mark the city's 35th anniversary. Rabobank will donate a new tile every year until 2043.
