This steel 'spaceship', connected by a cube-shaped building section, is located in a prominent spot in the armpit of Veluwedreef and the A6 motorway. Due to its location on the motorway and its spectacular shape, the complex functions as an icon and landmark for Almere. The main form of the Dôme is a flattened sphere on a cylindrical pedestal reminiscent of a UFO. The windows of the three floors inside the sphere are tightly lined up. Colourful glass screens are fitted in front of the four floors with their Cube steel skin. Both units have an atrium with a glass roof and circular galleries. They are connected by a walkway and a cone-shaped entrance. The rippling moat at the front makes the facades come alive. The complex was built as a fashion centre. Major brands rented units and presented their collections there, after which they found their way to fashion shops. The intention was to add another triangular and a fan-shaped unit, but that proved too optimistic. Since 2022, Cube and Dôme have been used as a business centre and event location and new users are being sought.
