Fort Island Pampus
Have you discovered Pampus yet? This fortress island belongs on everyone's bucket list! It is a lively, historic island that captures the imagination. There are treasure hunts for children (favourite is the one with the blacklight lamp) and for young and old, history comes to life in the fort in two experience routes.
In 'The Story of Pampus', this is done through beautiful projections and interesting games. Walk through time and you will hear banging cannons, see soldiers waking up on bunks and listen enthralled to the stories of the floating head.
The other route is about 'The Secret Weapon of Amsterdam'. You will discover what exactly that is from a hot air balloon that lets you virtually fly over the Defence Line of Amsterdam. Feast your eyes, feel the wind through your hair and enjoy this brand-new attraction!

Besides following the experience routes, you can also wander through the rest of the fort. Feel free to explore the fort on your own, but also take the chance to walk part of it with a guide. There are so many amazing stories hidden in the fort!
There is also plenty to see and do outside. From the roof you have a spectacular panorama that stretches for miles and in the dry moat around the fort is an exhibition with eye-catching blow-up aerial photographs of all the forts of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and the New Dutch Waterline.
Besides gaining all kinds of impressions and getting a breath of fresh air while strolling around the island, relaxing and enjoying some delicious food is also part of the package. You can do this indoors or in the sun on one of the café/restaurant terraces. During the summer holidays and off-season, this restaurant is sometimes also open in the evening and reservations can be made for Zomerlicht or Winterlicht. The season runs from April to October. The fort island is closed on Mondays.
Fancy Pampus? Then book tickets online for the ferry from Almere Marina Muiderzand(or arrive for free with your own boat. You will only be charged an entrance fee when entering the museum area; the pavilion and terraces are freely accessible).
