This building, Rem Koolhaas' first ever design, was designated a municipal monument in 2019. The elongated facade consists of a wall that stands as a loose element in front of the building volume, executed in smooth blue brick. The glass entrance protrudes slightly and is flanked by a slab of composite brick, which changed colour from pink to grey over time. The rest of the building was executed in white-painted brick with an anthracite-coloured plinth. All windows are horizontal in shape and have black-painted aluminium frames, with blue slats on the inside originally used as blinds. At the rear facades, cantilevered aluminium grilles with sunscreen strips have been placed above the windows, accentuating the horizontal lines of the structure. The second floor occupies only the middle section and projects two volumes above the flat roof of the ground floor. On one of the short sides is a tall garage with rolling door. Behind a fence attached to it, you can see the service entrance and parking spaces. This well-balanced but somewhat brave building does not yet show traces of the later Koolhaas who considered drama essential in building.
