Het Weerwater

Almere is a city by the water, with het Weerwater as its most popular recreational lake. Het Weerwater is situated on the outskirts of Almere Stad and was created by sand extraction for Almere Haven. Weerwater – or, more literally, ‘weather-water’ – is the central recreational lake in the heart of Almere, close to the city’s main access roads and near amenities such as hotels, the theatre, marinas and various inner-city squares and parks. Het Weerwater is 600 metres wide.

Several leisure providers offer canoes, SUPs and boats for hire, allowing you to explore het Weerwater . From het Weerwater , you have a stunning view of Almere’s skyline. Next to the Fantasiestrand is a waterski course, where you can go waterskiing or wakeboarding on Het Weerwater.
