Side by Side
At the extreme edge of the urban extension plan, two residential towers stand at right angles to each other. They occupy a key position within the urban landscape of Almere's city centre. Like sentinels on the waterfront, they proudly stand next to that other high-rise, the Silverline. To reinforce the prominent character, a deliberate choice was made for an abstract materialisation of the façades, using industrial glass strips in a soft green colour. At the corners, behind larger glass surfaces, indoor balconies are hidden. The mosaic of black-framed window frames shows the richness of more than 20 different housing types, spread across the floors, while black bands horizontally ago the towers. The plinth contains a wide range of collective facilities for residents, from winter garden to sauna and fitness.
