Kunstwerk-Almere
One of Almere's new gems is 'Kunstwerk-Almere' on the facade of the railway station on the Mandelaplein side. Artist Geert Mul uses this artwork to show what the city looks like underwater.
Geert Mul: "Not only artists make art. Engineers also make works of art. Not to mention architects, who like to say that architecture is the mother of all arts. Almere is, so to speak, a work of art, so the title of my work for Almere(Kunstwerk-Almere) is a tribute to Almere as a civil work of art. And the relationship with water is quickly established with Almere. The land reclaimed from the water, the city as a symbol of post-war optimism and future thinking."
This artwork is part of the Street Art walking route through Almere Centrum.
