Carmina Burana (Carl Orff)

One of the most impressive musical works of the 20th century comes to life in a grand international production. In Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, music, song and dance merge into an overwhelming theatrical experience.

The world-famous opening "O Fortuna" immediately sets the tone: a powerful ode to the capriciousness of fate, the transience of happiness and the unpredictable twists and turns of human existence. Orff's monumental scenic cantata, based on medieval texts about love, lust for life, nature and fate, is among the most beloved and compelling compositions in the classical repertoire.

In this special, large-scale performance, artists from the National Opera & Ballet Theatre of Ukraine from Odesa bring the work to life. The company comes from a city regularly hit by rocket and drone attacks since the beginning of the war, which is precisely why Orff's music - with its themes about the unpredictability of fate - takes on an extra, poignant topicality.

With soloists, choir, orchestra and dancers (120 personnel), a monumental musical and visual spectacle is created in which the energy of the music, the power of the voices and the expression of the dance reinforce each other.
