Goede Rede Klassiek: Chimaera Trio (clarinet, cello, piano)

With Clair-Obscur, the Chimaera Trio presents a French programme around 1900, with music by César Franck and Gabriel Fauré. A concert in which light and shadow constantly alternate.

The Chimaera Trio consists of Annemiek de Bruin (clarinet), Irene Kok (cello) and Laurens de Man (piano). Since its founding in 2012, they have profiled themselves as ambassadors of this special line-up of wind, string and keyboard instruments. The combination of clarinet, cello and piano produces a rich and nuanced palette of colours, with which the trio stands out within the chamber music landscape.

The three musicians met at the Amsterdam Conservatory and performed at the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht and the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, among others. Their performances could be heard on NTR Radio 4. Pianist Laurens de Man was Artist in Residence at Goede Rede Concerten in 2024.

With Clair-Obscur, they turn their gaze to France around 1900. In the music of Franck and Fauré, warm, lyrical melodies alternate with more subdued and dreamy moments. A programme full of atmosphere and contrast, in which the three instruments continually interact.
