Yap & Yarn

During Yap & Yarn, immerse yourself in the story of a writer or creator while knitting or crocheting. Each edition, someone will join in. This time, the afternoon is dedicated to the new performance Sisterhood by Theater Rotterdam. Director Romana Vrede and writer Simone Zeefuik are guests. We will talk to them about the creative process, their collaboration and the questions at the heart of Sisterhood: what does sisterhood mean in a time of social tension? How do you give friendship, solidarity and difference a place on stage?

Bring your own knitting or crochet project or use our materials to start something new. No experience? No problem! There are plenty of people present who will be happy to help you.

The performance Sisterhood is a critical love letter about being together, about being able to be yourself and still sometimes feel like the other, even within your own community. Are you allowed to be different from each other, even if you are similar?

During the conversation, they will share inspiration for the performance and reflect on themes such as friendship, solidarity, difference and social tension. Expect an open and personal conversation about how to translate sensitive topics to the stage - and what sisterhood really means today.

Yarn

Nothing is as relaxing and good for your concentration as working with your hands while listening to a story. During this edition, you will dive into the world of Sisterhood while knitting or crocheting.

Bring your own knitting or crochet work and let your creativity flow. In doubt about your craft skills? No problem! Experienced crafters will be present to help you get started. We will also provide crochet, knitting and drawing materials so that you can start a new project right away.
