Samen Straatspel & Verhalenpad Jaap ter Haarstraat

To mark 50 years of Almere, the neighbourhood in the Jaap ter Haarstraat (Literatuurwijk) is realising a permanent, sustainable play and meeting place. The initiative goes beyond one festive day: it makes Almere's core values - space, play, imagination and building together - visible in its own street. The result is a tangible reminder of the anniversary and a gift to the children who will grow up here in the years to come.
Three play nodes in the public space
Three play nodes will be constructed in the street, inviting play, reading, discovery and meeting each other. The nodes consist of:
- Hinkel tiles "50 years Almere" (24 pieces)
- Marble tiles (6 pieces)
- Mini-stories in tiles inspired by Jaap ter Haar that stimulate children to read and use their imagination
- Sustainable wooden benches made of half-timbered trunks, as a meeting place for young and old
- A shared play ball with toy bin so children learn to share and play together
Designed and made together by the neighbourhood
The design and installation will be carried out with residents from the street during a joint working day. This way, the investment remains entirely in the neighbourhood and a place is created that contributes to playing pleasure, meeting and connection for years to come.
Why this fits in with 50 years of Almere
This initiative ties in with the anniversary year because it not only celebrates but also passes on: the original idea behind Almere - a city where children are given room to discover and dream - is given a concrete, permanent place in the public space of the Literatuurwijk.
