Housing project Bosveld, started in 2017 as Collective Private Ownership (CPO), is an elongated, single-storey complex consisting of nine linked bungalows, cutting across the landscape of Oosterwold. The building seems to float on its exactly one-metre-high, concrete beams, held together by bands of I-sections at the top and bottom. A long veranda with wide staircases provides access to both the front and back of the houses. The residents determined their own layout. The façades are made of glass sections and the entire complex is edged with a canopy with slats. This wooden overhang protects against bright sunlight. The floor, roof and partition walls between the houses are made of hollow cassettes filled with insulating cellulose. The walls at the ends are panelled with horizontal slats, which harmonise with the continuous overhang. The complex now has two other versions at different locations in Oosterwold. These hamlets are one hundred metres long each, on plots of over 11,000 m². The houses range in size from 120 to 160 m². Combining modern architecture with sustainable construction techniques, this innovative project offers a unique living experience in a rural setting.
