Almeerderhout is Almere's largest forest. Among the inhabitants of this forest are the hawk, buzzard and roe deer, which hide in the lush vegetation. Almeerderhout is the collective name of the Waterlandse Bos, het Cirkelbos and the Kathedralenbos.
You can recognise Het Cirkelbos by the circles of tree species framed by beech avenues. Here you can also climb Almere's highest mountain, Almere Boven. A spiral path takes you 30 metres up to the top. There you have a great view of the landscape.
The Cathedral Forest is named after the landscape artwork The Green Cathedral. This is a life-size replica of Reims cathedral and consists of 178 poplars. Be inspired by this extraordinary combination of art, culture and nature!

And in the middle of the Waterlandse Bos is Stadslandgoed De Kemphaan, where there is always something to do. Climb into the treetops of Klimpark Fun Forest. Admire exotic animals in Almere Jungle. Visit the organic farmers' market and take a look at the cows at the Stadsboerderij. De Kemphaan is also the starting point for the most beautiful cycling and walking routes.
In Almeerderhout, you will find surprising vistas, clearings and waterways. Listen for the golden oriole in spring, or hear the sound of a woodpecker. You could say Almeerderhout is Flevoland's green secret, new land on a seabed.
