Concrete boats measuring 18 by 5 metres were readied at the pier, with only a 3 by 5 metre 'starting tower' in three tiers on the street side. Therein were sufficient facilities to work on the back part as one sees fit. Self-builders dove in and an explosion of creativity ensued. No boat resembles another. A diversity of roof shapes, materials, windows and balconies prove that people's living preferences are indeed very different.
