Maliebaan
A school with playground, 80 patio houses and 126 rental houses around a large indoor space. The two parts with flats on the street side are different in height and connected by a glass air bridge over a cycle and footpath. On the inside, the wide overhanging eaves of the high-rise sections are supported by slender, slightly inclined steel columns, a characteristic of Wytze Patijn's architecture.
The patio houses are arranged in a spacious square around a car-free interior space. The raised white 'pavements', which replace front gardens, are eagerly used by the residents and decorated with all kinds of trinkets and planters. The stairwells are in round, tower-like sections. A high, covered inner garden, with a wealth of greenery, underlines the connection between inside and outside as a quality of living in this complex.
