Museum M. Architectuur

The home of M., which is intended to be the prelude to an Almerian art museum, consists of three circular sections that seem to float in the water. A circular access road, a terrace within it and an exhibition hall. The main colour is pink. The wall of the drum-shaped museum hall is polycarbonate. When you are inside, geometric shapes light up behind a transparent curtain, acting as windows. The counter is made of pink terrazzo, incorporating locally found shells. The ring road in front of the drum also uses this material, complemented by diamond-shaped intarsia. The intention is to use the water square as a second exhibition hall, with the circular terrace functioning as a stage. M. has been selected for the Mies van der Rohe Prize 2024.
