Scattered among spruce, beech and maple trees are 173 homes ranging from single-family houses, semi-detached houses to detached villas. Van Bergen Kolpa deliberately adopted an approach that retained existing trees and added new ones to create a lush and green character. Between semi-paved roads, lined with reclining tree trunks, nature is close at hand. Green wedges, wooded banks, wadis and meandering streams define the atmosphere. The single-family houses, detached villas and semi-detached houses blend into the woods of Duin. The materials and colour schemes of all the houses contribute to the natural character of the project. The roofs with ochre yellow and brown tiles allude to an autumnal leafy roof and the facades to rough tree bark. The yellow-framed windows continue in wooden slats and lead our eye upwards. The steep roofs are intersected with robust chimneys at some houses. Paying attention to sustainability and environmental awareness, the houses have been placed within the tree structure in such a way as to make the best use of natural light, and sustainable materials have been used everywhere. The green meeting places act as central places where the community comes together, contributing to a sense of belonging and connection.
