The project consists of a highly cohesive group of 24 square detached houses, compact yet playfully grouped on a triangular point at the edge of Cascadepark. The donjon-like blocks of individual houses each have a rather closed character, although there is a playful brick element that enlivens the wall surfaces and a colourful window frame that marks the front door. A sunken roof terrace at the top of each unit forms an extra room, where visual contact can be made with the vast park surrounding it. The towers are close together and belong together like the houses in an organically grown village, but they also maintain their privacy in this setting. The seven different types each have their own garden and parking, and also have the surrounding park as an additional outdoor area. A black-and-white paved road connects all units and allows parking on private property. Individual quality has been realised here in a high density, spacious location. Achillesveld won the Architectuurprijs Almere in 2020.
