The Invite

Angela (Olivia Wilde) and Joe’s (Seth Rogen) marriage has been in a rut for some time and is characterised by neurotic bickering. Their eccentric upstairs neighbours, Hawk (Edward Norton) and Pina (Penélope Cruz), seem to be particularly active at night, much to Joe’s annoyance. When Angela invites them over for dinner, Joe sees this as the perfect opportunity to confront them. What follows is an evening full of unexpected twists and turns, which none of them will forget in a hurry…

Filmmaker and actress Olivia Wilde (Booksmart, Don’t Worry Darling) and screenwriters Will McCormack and Rashida Jones based this razor-sharp comedy on the Spanish film Sentimental, which has already been remade in several countries. The Invite is a hilarious and poignant portrait of sex, relationships and marriage, constantly keeping the viewer guessing. The film was, unsurprisingly, received with rapturous enthusiasm at its world premiere at Sundance.
