The Debut
When Mona Friedman (Julianne Moore) lands a role in an amateur theatre production, she transforms from a shy, unassuming housewife into a passionate ‘method actor’. She is prepared to do anything to protect the artistic integrity of her modest role – even if that means taking on the play’s domineering director (Paul Giamatti).
The Debut is a comic musical drama, written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain, The Social Network), starring Julianne Moore (The Room Next Door) and Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers). What might happen when an unassuming housewife ventures into amateur theatre?
