In a world reeling from geopolitical tensions and humanitarian crises, an ancient dance unfolds before our eyes. How do we find our way through this? Are we capable of turning the tide?
The dance between Eros and Thanatos is a timeless dialogue – a constant interplay between love and decay, harmony and chaos, peace and war, creation and destruction. ‘Monday’ opts for a radical reversal: the performance unfolds in reverse. It is precisely by rewinding events that our understanding of them can be profoundly altered. The four dancers execute their movements backwards and rebuild the set. Gradually, the performance takes on a hypnotic quality.
The music, inspired by the Song of Seikilos – the world’s oldest musical composition to have survived in its entirety – lends the performance a driving force.
This reconstruction is not about nostalgia; it will be a physical metaphor for how we can rebuild, together and with care. Often dismissed as just another day or a return to routine, Monday here will be a day that nobody will forget.
