Bert Hana & Esther de Koning – The Wise Tomcat (8+)
Jonathan is in deep trouble: he’s in debt to the baker, the butcher, the cobbler and the milkman, because he gave all his money away.
What’s more, he’s head over heels in love with Ans, the baker’s daughter, but he feels too worthless to ask her out. Everything changes when his tomcat Hans suddenly starts talking. Disguised as a human, Hans manages to get a job with the king, drives away a plague of rats and is even appointed Chief Justice for a single day. From that moment on, he turns the whole world upside down.
The Wise Tomcat is a comical and philosophical fairy tale by Herman Heijermans, freshly adapted by Bert Hana and Esther de Koning. The two of them play all the characters at breakneck speed – from king to tomcat, from footman to baker’s daughter – in an energetic, imaginative performance brimming with the joy of acting.
