1991 - First Architecture Prize awarded

The first Almere Architecture Award will be presented to Gert Jan Hendriks for his 'Muziekwijk project'.

In addition, 1991 is the year the first 16-classroom school in the Netherlands is built. This building will be located in Filmwijk and is designed by architect Herman Herzberger.

Also in this year, the Salvation Army will open its headquarters in Almere City on Spoordreef.
