1989 - Centrum Almere-Stad

On 20 April 1989, then prime minister Ruud Lubbers officially opened Almere Stad's city centre. Almere now has more than 70,000 inhabitants.

Almere is a city with many young families. Not surprisingly, youth station Radio Airpeace was founded.

1989 is also a milestone for Almere housing construction, as this year sees the start of housing construction through Private and Public Contracting. In addition, the compulsory dog tag is introduced in this same year.
