1982 - CS under construction

| | |

Construction of Almere Central Station, the first station in Almere, starts in 1982. Architect Kilsdonk designs this 'viaduct station', whose train track is six metres above polder level. The pedestrian passage runs straight through the hall. Characteristic features of this station are the large glass roof and the many steel in red/blue. Later, it will be named Almere Centrum.

Another architectural highlight comes with the launch of the competition for 'De Fantasie'.

In addition, business park Markerkant will open in 1982.
