The building consists of two five-storey wings, perpendicular to each other and parallel to two streets. In between, a third wing reaching up to 10 storeys diagonally came only in 2005. The glass wing, which houses the administration, curves gracefully around this third wing, known as the 'banana'. The imposing hall, where the three main volumes meet, also acts as a passageway to the Town Hall Square from the car park behind. The building exudes allure through several theatrical elements, including the majestic staircases bisecting the two outer wings, clad in fire-engine-red studded tarpaulin and lit by an elongated skylight. The washrooms use white tiling decorated with gold circles and letters C and D by Cees Dam. In some places, including on the exterior facades, glass mosaic with a golden sheen has been applied. The concrete facades are classically divided into three strips, with a concrete base, a marble middle section and a cornice, articulated by round cut-outs. The imposing circular council chamber on the square side hangs over the entrance. A covered walkway of steel and glass forms the axis between front and rear, where the wedding hall is located.
