Almere trap

Take a walk from the square into the shopping street and you can't avoid it: a stage staircase that leads to nothing and seems mainly meant for chilling out. And that is what the young people do en masse. Only when they get up do they see that the steps are marked in large letters ALLY - street slang for Almere. It is a creation of Camp Seedorf. What started in 2010 as a group of illegal street artists soon grew into a successful street art collective. They borrowed the name from their idol and fellow townsman Clarence Seedorf, who never received full recognition elsewhere in the Netherlands. Their work now hangs in several European cities and in 2022 they even received the first Almeerse Cultuurprijs. They did so in a wolf pack, by the way: their city art may be seen, but the makers themselves prefer to remain anonymous.

This artwork is part of the Street Art walking route through Almere Centrum.
