Ice skating in Almere

| | |

In Almere, there are several places to skate. With a bit of luck, the winter temperatures will persist for a while and we can enjoy a nice skating season. Get your irons out of the grease and discover the most beautiful places to skate in Almere. From long distances in nature to pirouettes on the canal in front of your door. Almere is a great place to skate.

Note: The information below is from February 2021 and therefore not up to date. Currently, it is not possible to skate on natural ice, so where can you skate? At the skating rink at Schipperplein.

This is where you could skate in February 2022

The canals

The canals around your corner can also be great for skating. And added bonus: it might be a bit quieter there than at the big nature reserves.

Kromslootpark

Along the cycling & walking paths, you will also find plenty of patches of ice to skate on in winter.

Leeghwaterplas

leeghwaterplas makes a round of skating almost idyllic, once you skate between the two islets and under the little bridge.

Noorderplassen

In summer you can enjoy boating there, but as long as winter temperatures persist, you can skate endlessly on de Noorderplassen.

Beatrixpark

It may have been a while since you stood on skates, but Beatrixpark has plenty of space for you to practise. Make circles around the islet and rest on the jetty. It is the ideal boarding point to get on the ice.

Here you can skate if it continues to freeze

Weatherwater

A lap around Weerwater, but different. This time not a running lap of almost 7km around het Weerwater. But a lap on skates. And ending for a hot chocolate at a 2GO location in Almere Centrum.

Fanny Blankers Koen

FBK's skating rink has been cleared of snow and coated with water. Now it is nature's turn to turn it into a skating rink. If the freezing temperatures persist, you will soon be able to skate on a natural ice rink here.
If you want to come and skate, register in advance via the Almeerse Schaatsvereniging (ASV) website and reserve a time slot.

Be careful

Enjoy skating in Almere, but do so with caution. Skating on natural ice is at your own risk and in addition, keep current measures in mind. Keep 1.5 metres distance and avoid crowded areas.
