Chess grandmaster Jan Timman plays a simultaneous match in Almere Buiten

On Saturday 14 June, chess lovers in Almere will have a special opportunity: they can play against none other than Jan Timman, one of the Netherlands' greatest chess icons. The internationally renowned grandmaster will play a so-called simultaneous match at the Globeplein in Almere Buiten, where he will play chess simultaneously against several participants.

Jan Timman has had an impressive career. He became Dutch champion no less than nine times and was among the world's top players for years. In his heyday, he reached the second spot of the world rankings and participated in the World Chess Championship.

The simultaneous match starts at 13:00. Participation is free, but the number of places is limited. In case of great interest, the organisation will make a selection, looking at a balanced distribution of ages and playing strength. Interested parties can register via schakenalmere.nl.
