Preserve the Desire / Tom Lanoye – ReinAard — the solo
An energetic and compelling performance based on his acclaimed reworking of *Van den vos Reynaerde*. With just a microphone, a bottle of water and his voice, Lanoye delivers a virtuoso solo performance full of humour, satire and sharp language.
In ReinAard, the cunning fox takes on a contemporary guise: charming, ruthless and surprisingly recognisable in a world where manipulation and populism still set the tone. Lanoye effortlessly balances poetry and vulgarity, hilarity and discomfort, and breathes new life into the classic tale with rhythmic, musical language.
The production is based on Lanoye’s award-winning bestseller ReinAard, which was warmly received by the press both at home and abroad. Critics praised the book for its playful language, topical relevance and impressive narrative power.
