What started as an initiative in Almere to introduce creative elderly people to different art forms has now grown into a regular group of makers who meet weekly in the Huis van de Waterwijk. Discover masks, self-portraits, kimono, fish, book projects and surprising works of material from thrift shops. About the makers

In varying combinations, Agnite, Anna Marijke, Erik, Magda, Rita and Willemijn meet weekly in a room in the House of the Water District. They draw inspiration from visits to museums. So they go from inspiration to making and put their brains, senses and, of course, their hands to work to create something.

They take inspiration from artists such as Mark Manders, Theo van Rysselberghe (for the fish), Betty Pepper (for the books), Jaap Mooy (for the dried leaves), B.E.J. Birza (for the kimono), Kiki Smith (for the self-portraits), Alia Ali (for the heads in textiles), Pamela Marian (for the photos with textiles) and even the front page of a television guide for the collaborative work.
