Corrosia Pride: Tár (12+)
The delightfully provocative Tár initially seems to be about celebrated female conductor Lydia Tár and thus become a story about female empowerment.
But director Todd Field (In the Bedroom, Little Children) had something very different in mind. For Lydia turns out to abuse the power she has as an influential conductor. She runs over people, destroys careers and lays it on young women who are impressed by her talent, daring and vision. And so Tár becomes a finely biting parable about #MeToo, where for once the villain is female. Six Oscar nominations, including - quite rightly - one for Blanchett, who completely disappears into the monstrous maestro.
