OrgelPLUS in Flevoland – Marion Boshuizen

Marion Boshuizen will be performing the programme ‘Orgel in de kamer’ alongside three members of the Apollo Ensemble, preceded by some interesting information about the church and the organ.

’programmeThe organ is often associated with churches and church services. Yet for centuries, it was much more than that. Alongside the large church organs, there were also smaller domestic organs, which were played in living rooms, salons and concert halls. The organ was a versatile instrument that played an important role both as a solo instrument and when played in ensemble with other musicians.

In the programme ‘Orgel in de kamer’ (Organ in the Chamber ), organist Marion Boshuizen, together with three musicians from the Apollo Ensemble, showcases this lesser-known side of the organ. The audience will discover just how well the instrument lends itself to chamber music and how naturally it blends with instruments such as the violin, recorder, oboe and bassoon.

This concert is part of the OrgelPLUS in Flevoland series, through which Goede Rede Concerten showcases exceptional organs in Flevoland. The concerts take place in churches with distinctive instruments and are preceded by a brief introduction to the organ and the history of the venue. This time, the concert will be held at Goede Rede in Almere Haven, the home of Goede Rede Concerten.

The guided tour with commentary starts at 7.30 pm. The organ concert takes place from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

The musicians

Marion Boshuizen
Marion Boshuizen studied organ, harpsichord and conducting at the Utrecht Conservatoire. She is a harpsichordist, organist and pianist with the Apollo Ensemble, with whom she gives numerous chamber music concerts each year and has recorded many CDs. She has also undertaken concert tours with the Apollo Ensemble through Russia, Croatia, Belgium and Switzerland. Marion is, in addition, a regular performer with various orchestras and ensembles, such as Het Brabants Orkest, Ensemble Conservatoire, Opera Zuid and the Promenade Orkest.
As a teacher, she is affiliated with the Apollo Summer Academy, a chamber music course held every August. Marion is also active in the field of choral conducting: she is the conductor of the Cantorij Lelystad, with whom she performs works including Passions and cantatas.

For this concert, Marion will be joined by three experienced musicians from the Apollo Ensemble: Robert de Bree (recorder and baroque oboe), Daphne Oltheten (violin) and Thomas Oltheten (bassoon). Together, they will present a programme centred on the organ as a chamber music instrument, showcasing the richness and versatility of this musical tradition.
