Plan D – Between Two Worlds (premiere)
He cannot hear the world. But he speaks it fluently.
Ali Shafiee fled Iran. Deaf in a country that ignored his condition, with no room for who he was. During his flight to the Netherlands, he discovers a language that goes beyond words.
Now he stands opposite Georgios Lazakis – a rapper, spoken-word artist, someone who also knows what it’s like to live between worlds. They clash. They search. Together, they build a tension between silence and sound.
Whilst they perform, Thomas Brand sketches images on stage in real time. Memories you try to hold on to. Music by Izak Boom underpins the whole production.
A performance about boundaries that aren’t marked on maps. About what remains when nobody speaks your language. And about what’s possible when you start to move anyway.
For ages 12 and over.
