On the eve of the Beijing Olympics, Lang (Eddie Peng) tries to pick up his life again and strikes up a special friendship. The taciturn Lang (Eddie Peng) returns to his hometown on the edge of the Gobi desert after being imprisoned. He goes to work for the local dog patrol, which has to drive the stray dogs out of the town before the 2008 Olympics begin. Lang is fascinated by one of the dogs they have to catch. He feels an unlikely bond with this impressive, black dog (Xin). While Lang is overtaken by his past, he forms an extraordinary friendship with Xin.
