Marta (Alba Rohrwacher) is a physical education teacher at a high school in Rome. She lives with Antonio (Elio Germano), a chef whose career is on the rise. After a trivial argument, Antonio abruptly decides to end the relationship. While Antonio throws herself into his work, Marta tries to get her life back on track with grief. She cares for her scholars at school and finally gets attention for a colleague's advances. But when she discovers that her lack of appetite for food has nothing to do with the break-up, it turns her life upside down and she discovers the value of life.
