During this special lecture, organised by Erfgoedvrienden Flevoland in cooperation with Committee 30 June - 1 July Flevoland, Professor Alex van Stipriaan will take you on a historical journey full of surprising insights.

Based on the voyage of a specific slave ship, a larger story of trade, awareness and resistance to slavery unfolds. Van Stipriaan explores the extent to which people at the time were aware of slavery and what forms of resistance existed. By connecting these themes to the local context, he makes fascinating connections between Flevoland and this global past.
