For the Girls

Oscar-winner Mike van Diem wrote and directed this compelling and razor-sharp film. Top actors Thekla Reuten, Fedja van Huêt, Noortje Herlaar and Valentijn Dhaenens play two couples who end up in a moral battle over their daughters' lives and go to extremes in the process.

Two befriended couples have been sharing a holiday home in the Austrian Alps for years. When their adolescent daughters are involved in an accident during a joint holiday, the apparent friendship rapidly crumbles. Old hurts and pent-up frustrations drive the parents further and further apart when they hear that one daughter can be saved, but only if the other girl is given up. What begins as a moral dilemma degenerates into an absurd struggle full of manipulations and desperate actions in which the boundaries of decency are further blurred. Because when it comes to your child, anything goes. Right?
