Michelle Sweegers
Michelle Sweegers (b. 1997) is a versatile Dutch harpist who stands out with narrative and varied concert programmes. She plays both the concert harp and electric harp, exploring diverse styles - from classical to contemporary crossovers. Michelle composes her own work, loves interacting with her audience and has performed at various venues and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad. She has performed as a soloist with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra and the Amstel String Ensemble, and has been a guest on TV and radio programmes such as Podium Witteman, De Wereld Draait Door and Spiegelzaal.
At seven, Michelle started playing harp at Factorium in Tilburg. She later obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp - both with 'highest distinction' - and also studied at the Lyon Conservatory. Michelle won prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, the Rosa Spier Competition and the Harp Competition in Limoges, among others. She took internships and master classes with several top names and performs regularly at home and abroad in a variety of settings: as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and in collaboration with various orchestras.
