Psychiatrist Lilian's (Jodie Foster) life becomes completely disrupted after her patient Paula's unexpected suicide.
She refuses to accept that Paula allegedly ended her own life and suspects that she was the victim of a crime. Lilian suspects Paula's husband and sees no alternative but to investigate on her own.
