Open Monumentendag Almere

Discover Almere’s unique heritage during Open Monument Day 2026. On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, various monuments and special sites across the city will be opening their doors to the public. A wonderful opportunity to see Almere from a different perspective!

Almere will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. Although Almere is a young city, it is now home to six listed buildings. During Open Monument Day, you can discover the stories behind these places and enjoy a range of free activities for all ages.

Discover heritage sites throughout Almere
The programme takes you to special locations in various parts of the city. For example, visit De Voetnoot and De Hoge Ringen in Almere Stad, discover the Erfgoedhuis Almere in Almere Buiten, or take a look around the Huis van Haven museum house in Almere Haven.

Nature and heritage also come together. Among other things, you can visit the schaapskooi in the Vroege Vogelbos , and on Sunday there’s a nature adventure on the programme at Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan .

National opening in Almere
The weekend gets off to a special start on Friday 11 September. In 2026, Flevoland will be the host province for the national opening of Open Monument Day. In Almere, the Goede Rede church centre will be in the spotlight. From 8.30 pm to 11.00 pm, there will be a varied programme here featuring music, poetry and a guided tour of the building.
