The children of a once-renowned artist enlist the help of an art forger to complete his unfinished paintings, in the hope of securing their inheritance when their father dies.
Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen), a fixture on the London art scene since his breakthrough during the creative explosion of the 1960s, has retreated into a messy, self-imposed isolation. His two estranged children enlist Lori (Michaela Coel), a young painter and occasional forger, to pose as a potential assistant and gain access to a legendary series of unfinished canvases that Julian has buried deep in his studio, in a deceptive attempt to secure an inheritance for themselves.
