Welcome to the Evening of Dutch Short Film, a varied programme in which we celebrate the richness and creativity of short film at home. From moving personal stories to thought-provoking experimental cinema - tonight the short format takes centre stage.

Short films offer creators the freedom to experiment, push boundaries and tell stories that might never be told in a long format. They are often a springboard for new talent, but also a playground for established makers.

In this programme, we present a selection of striking short films from Dutch soil. Each of these films has its own style, tone and theme, but they have one thing in common: they show how powerful a short story can be.

To be seen:

Lili: A young actress auditions for a director who rehearses the same text over and over again with her. Well-played and constructed #metoo-horror. With Lisa Smit, Derek de Lint.

Slot: Engaging short film about an isolated seventy-year-old woman. When she comes into contact with an equally lonely young man, she regains her zest for life. With Beppie Melissen, Michael Muller, Sarah Janneh, Joachim Robbrechts

Last Ride: When taxi driver Oussama (40) reluctantly picks up the last customer of his night shift, he meets the disarming Joyce (50). On the way to her final destination, she is eager to make a few more stops. The encounter ends in a drive through the city of Rotterdam, which neither of them will soon forget. Seahorse: When Dana sees a tiny speck of light flickering in her womb, she has to face de realiteit. She is pregnant. Dana decides to end her pregnancy. On the day of her abortion, Dana meets women who each experience the procedure in their own way.
