Jazz on Friday ft. Lucky Losers Jazz Band

Every month the Cultuurhuis turns into a jazz hotspot with a unique jazz concert followed by a jam session! Cultuurhuis Almere Buiten invites a vocalist or instrumentalist who has made his or her mark on the jazz world for an exclusive mini-concert, with several experienced jazz musicians providing the musical backdrop for the evening.

Admission is free for those who sing or play along; sign in when you arrive. Listeners pay only €6.00 entrance. Buy your tickets via Eventbrite or at the door.

The session is not only for musicians, listeners are also welcome. So bring your own instrument or come and sing and bring sheet music/chord diagrams of the songs you would like to play (in triplicate). Come and enjoy making music or just come and listen!

Mini concert:
Lucky Losers Jazz Band

Founded in 2021 by drummer Maarten Kruijswijk, this sextet specialises in performing 'vintage' jazz from the period 1920-1940. In this era, jazz was also meant to be dance music. The Lucky Losers Jazz Band therefore regularly performs at Lindy Hop dance evenings. Thanks to the fresh new arrangements, with space for solo work, the band also offers a captivating listening experience.

The repertoire includes pieces by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Jelly Roll Morton, among others.
